چکیده

The RNA world hypothesis and the hydrothermal origin of life hypothesis are contradictory to maintain life-like systems for these two hypotheses to be compatible by the following two main reasons. First RNA molecules are too labile and second the biologically important interactions would not be effective at high temperatures. The assumption can be applied to the protein-based life-like systems. We have continuously investigated the stability and the chemical evolution of RNAand protein-based life-like systems by using our hydrothermalmonitoring techniques. According to these data, it has been found that two viewpoints are essential to discuss the temperature limit of RNA and/or protein-based life-like systems on the primitive earth. First, the accumulation of biomolecules should be determined by both the formation and degradation rates. Second, the reaction rates of the primitive life-like systems should be evaluated from the viewpoint of enzymatic reaction rates.

Spontaneous mirror symmetry breaking in the limited enantioselective autocatalysis model: abyssal hydrothermal vents as scenario for the emergence of chirality in prebiotic chemistry.

The emergence of chirality in enantioselective autocatalysis for compounds unable to transform according to the Frank-like reaction network is discussed with respect to the controversial limited enantioselectivity (LES) model composed of coupled enantioselective and non-enantioselective autocatalyses. The LES model cannot lead to spontaneous mirror symmetry breaking (SMSB) either in closed syst...

Accelerated Stability and Chemical Kinetics of Ethanol Extracts of Fruit of Piper sarmentosum Using High Performance Liquid Chromatography

The extracts of Piper sarmentosum, a medicinal plant, are being used to prepare phytopharmaceuticals while the information about chemical kinetics of constituents of the extract is unavailable to assign precise shelf life (t90) and find optimum storage conditions of the product for patient safety, and to avoid economic repercussions of launching an unstable product. The extract was exposed to t...

Synthesis of 1-(isopentyloxy)-4-nitrobenzene under ultrasound assisted liquid-liquid phase-transfer catalysis

In this paper, we report the reaction of isoamyl alcohol and 1-chloro-4-nitrobenzene was carried out in a batch reactor under aqueous-organic biphasic conditions using the techniques like phase transfer catalysis and ultrasound irradiation. Tetrabutylammonium bromide (TBAB) was employed as the phase transfer catalyst. The reaction is greatly enhanced by adding a small quantity of phase-transfer...

A Hydrothermal-Sedimentary Context for the Origin of Life

Critical to the origin of life are the ingredients of life, of course, but also the physical and chemical conditions in which prebiotic chemical reactions can take place. These factors place constraints on the types of Hadean environment in which life could have emerged. Many locations, ranging from hydrothermal vents and pumice rafts, through volcanic-hosted splash pools to continental springs...
